Barack Obama re-elected with 303 votes

November 7, 2012

Barack Obama was re-elected US president after an intensely close race for the White House, securing 303 electoral votes against contender Mitt Romney’s 206. Democrats are expected to keep control of the Senate, while the Republican party will retain the House. The dollar weakened on speculation that Barack Obama’s re-election increases the chances of the US continuing its monetary stimulus policies.
