Hilfswerk Liechtenstein e.V. is to be presented with the LGT Award for social engagement. The
CHF 50 000 prize is being awarded this year for the first time, in recognition of charity work in Liechtenstein. Over 40 organizations had entered for the LGT Award.
"Hilfswerk Liechtenstein has been working since the late 1980s to alleviate deprivation in Liechtenstein and abroad. We were highly impressed with its many years of intensive, effective voluntary work," commented H.S.H. Prince Max von und zu Liechtenstein, CEO of LGT, in explanation of the decision. Many of the organization’s 165 volunteers regularly collect and distribute aid supplies and donations, working around 22 000 hours between them every year for free. "The Hilfswerk aid agency is thus a shining example of a voluntary undertaking that is supported by the people and is deeply embedded in Liechtenstein," said H.S.H. Prince Max von und zu Liechtenstein.
